DonDon Bruce – CEO and Founder of American Home Design

Don Bruce grew up in Nashville, TN and attended Maplewood High School. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Marketing degree. Following graduation, he moved to Atlanta, GA and went to work for US Steel siding and window division, as a Sales Representative. After a promotion to sales management and transfer to Nashville where he trained people to be in Home Improvement sales, he realized he wanted to start his own business and work directly for homeowners. He married his wife, Joan (who he met in Atlanta), in 1976 and began American Home Design by selling and installing high quality home improvements direct to the homeowner. American Home Design grew, and he needed sales people, so he hired Allan Ross (current President of AHD) in 1980. Soon thereafter, they started selling and manufacturing Replacement Windows. American Home Design has grown substantially each year since it began. In 1997, AHD started offering Sunrooms. In 2007 it started selling and installing Bathwraps.

In 2002, American Home Design moved its operations from Elm Hill Pike to Conference Drive in Goodlettsville in order to accommodate the need for more office and warehouse space, but also to open a Showroom where customers could see the products before they purchased.

Don continues to have an active role as CEO of AHD. American Home Design is consistently recognized as one of the top Home Improvement Companies in the U.S., as recognized by Qualified Remodeler and Replacement Contractor Magazine. Don is often quoted in these trade magazines about best practices for companies in the business.
